Good afternoon,
What a fantastic first week back we have. We are really proud of how the children have come back into school and showing they are ready to learn.
We have started our new topic of 'Britain in the 1960s' and the children have enjoyed diving straight into this by looking at where 1960 is on our timeline.
In Maths, Year 1 have began their new topic of addition and subtraction. We are focusing on how we might find the missing addend.
In Year 2 , next week we are continuing with division.
In Writing, KS1 are really focusing on including the correct adjectives that make our writing even more exciting.
In Spanish this week KS1 have started their new topic today and they love the songs and have asked if they can learn them at home.

Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
For Spring 1, our PE days will be Monday and Thursdays.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you,
Team KS1
