STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 10th January 2025
Dear Families,
It has been wonderful to welcome our children back to school as we enter a new term. We hope that all of our families have had an enjoyable and rejuvenating break and we look forward to a busy term ahead with lots of exciting learning opportunities! We look forward to a productive term where we will see our children learn and grow.
We have already started the term with many of our children in Key Stage Two taking part in the Young Voices choir 2025. A group of children visited Sheffield Arena yesterday and had a fabulous time, from the moment they walked into the arena they were captivated by the experience. The children were ambassadors for school and made all members of staff feel incredibly proud. Thank you to the staff who work hard to enable this to take place and to you, our parents and carers for allowing your children to be part of it.
I would like to make you aware that as of next week we are forutate enough to have Mr Metcalfe working with us four days per week. Mr Metcalfe's working days at Staynor Hall will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. In other staffing news, Miss Price will be leaving us at the end of next week to begin a new adventure with the Local Authority. We thank Miss Price for her dedication and commitment over the last three years whilst working with us and wish her well for the future.
As a reminder next Thursday from 2.30 p.m. Apetito will be in school to provide a tasting session. Please do try to come along. We have tasted the food first hand and you will not be disappointed!
We look forward to working closely together this term as the children engage in their many learning experiences.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back after what I hope was a lovely Christmas break. I am just going to share some attendance reminders as we start 2025.
If your child is unwell and is not able to come into school please;
Ensure you inform school via email or telephone call by 9:30 am
Ensure that you are specific in the reasons why your child will not be attending school (being "unwell" is not a reason and will be marked as an unauthorised absence
Keep school up to date the following day if still needing to be absent
Share proof of any medical/dental appointments with school
Contact school if you are unsure whether your child is well enough to be in school
Warm Regards
Mr Metcalfe
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Please can children not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Please can children not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced and to make sure that all are looking before crossing roads.

Dear Parents and carers,
Happy New Year and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I’m sure many of our children were excited to receive new electronic devices for Christmas. Please make sure that any online devices have appropriate parental settings. I have shared a poster with information regarding some of things to be aware of when setting up different apps and.
Please come and speak to me if you require any support with online device or you have any worries.
Warm regards
Mr Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Happy New Year to you all. Team Swale and Team Nidd will be celebrating the Chinese New Year in a couple of weeks and I look forward to sharing their experience with you then.
In the meantime, Team Humber has been in Cook School this week. They have been making Brazilian Cheese Bread. They have been learning about a healthy and varied diet (using the Eat Well Guide) and have had the opportunity to use a range of cooking techniques. These include weighing, measuring and mixing. They have also learnt about the process of how cheese is produced from milk.
Well done to all the children who attended Cook School this week, you all worked really hard and your Brazilian Cheese Breads were amazing. Your knowledge of using a globe was fantastic too. I will continue to work with Team Humber at the beginning of next week and Team Calder towards the end of the week.
