WEEKLY UPDATE
Good afternoon,
The children have had a great first week back! We have learnt all about the North Pole and we now know how to identify where the North Pole is on a globe and a map. Our next step in our learning will be to write a sentence as part of a page for an information book about the North Pole.
This is what we will be looking at next week in English and Maths.
English - On Wednesday we will be introducing the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and building a bank of exciting words to describe the giant.
Maths - We will be looking at the number 6. We will be exploring how the number 6 is composed and thinking about how doubling can be used to make the number 6.
PE sessions will happen on a Monday every week. The children can come in PE kits on this day.
The children will also continue to do daily phonics lessons and we will be introducing our Phase 3 digraphs: ai/ee/igh/oa. Team Swale and Nidd are so excited to get started learning our new phonemes.
A new picture book to share at home will be making its way home from our class library. Next week we will be starting our Guiding Reading sessions in school so your child will be bringing home their new book on Friday 17th January. This book will reflect our recent phonics assessments. Please see below the parent overview for our Spring 1 topic.
Please keep sharing your photographs on Tapestry. We enjoy having the time after our snuggle story in the afternoon to share these as a class.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
