STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 6th December 2024
Dear Families,
The festive season got well and truly underway this week with the Christmas Discos arranged by our Friends of School Committee. It was fantastic to see so many of our children enjoying themselves dancing and singing. Thank you to the volunteers and staff who stayed late to ensure the events were a success. The total amount raised is £565.
Christmas in school is always such a magical time and today, we all had a sneak preview of EYFS's Christmas Performance. It was so wonderful to watch and you are in for such a treat. Please see below to make sure you book your tickets to see your child's performances.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Dear parents and carers,
Next week letters will be going to parents and carers of children where there attendance is below 90%. When a child's attendance drops below 90% they are classed as a Persistently Absent child. You will be invited in for a meeting to discuss.
We want these meetings to be supportive and for us to work together to improve attendance and usually we do see attendance improve.
We have high expectations for our children to be in school every day and on time, as this has a positive impact on all areas of a child's life (attainment, friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence, belonging and ultimately better life chances and prospects.
If you have concerns around attendance please speak to myself.
Thank you
Steve Metcalfe
Attendance Lead
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
And please can children not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced and to make sure that all are looking before crossing roads.

Dear Parents and carers,
The majority of our safeguarding thoughts of the week have been around online safety and the different apps that children can have access to. We recognise the huge role that the online world has for all of us and that all the different apps, platforms and devices can seem overwhelming. With all this in mind it is important that we have appropriate and meaningful conversations around this.
NSPCC advice is that you talk regularly with your child about online safety and in all discussions remain calm, balanced and non-judgemental. Consider a subtle approach and an appropriate time to engage in the discussion.
Below is a link to the NSPCC Website that has a huge amount of information and guidance around talking to your children about online safety.
Please speak to myself if you have any concerns or worries around your child's online activities.

Warm Regards
Mr Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Team Foss have been in Cook School this week. They have been getting into the Christmas spirit and making Christmas Tree Pittas. They have learnt about avocados and made a guacamole mix using a pestle and mortar. They also got the opportunity to use their cutting and chopping skills. Well done to everyone this week, your Christmas trees were amazing. I will work with the rest of Team Foss next week.
