Good afternoon,
The teams have had a great first week back in school after half term. This week it has been lovely to look at being the best versions of ourselves. We learnt about several inspirational people and the children wrote a biography, including conjunctions and adjectives, about their chosen person. When focusing on Greta Thunberg in Geography, we looked at ways we could make small changes to our day-to-day lives to support climate change.
English: We will be starting to look at letters for our new genre of writing, letters of complaint. This week we will be focusing on using proper nouns accurately.
Creative curriculum: We are starting our new topic ‘Can the community be your team?’. The first question we are focussing on is ‘What is a community?’ where we will look at key aspects of human geography.
Maths: In Maths we will be beginning our topic of mental strategies for addition and subtraction.
PE: Dove, Derwent and Foss all have PE on Wednesday and Friday.
Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
PSHE: We will be completing the follow up workshop from the NSPCC assembly.
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
