STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 27th September 2024
Dear Families,
Next week we will be raising awareness of allergies as part of allergy awareness week. We have many children in school who live with allergies and have the challenge of negotiating everyday experiences to ensure they remain safe at all times. On Friday 4th October children are invited to 'wear it bright' and to come to school in home clothes which are as bright as possible! We will also be learning about the impact of anaphylactic reaction through our whole school assembly that day.
Thank you to all of our parents and carers who have returned the questionnaires in regards to our PSHCE curriculum. We are very grateful for your feedback as it helps us to understand your views in relation to the subject areas. We have also valued parents and carers who have shared family experiences with us which may impact on the way in which we deliver sessions to your children. If you have not yet completed this but would like to, please do speak to the school office who can provide you with a copy. If you would like to speak in confidence to a member of staff about an experience your child has had which may impact them in this subject area please contact the school office and we will organise for Mr Willson (strategic lead for PSHCE) to contact you.
Very best wishes for a lovely weekend,
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,

In school we regularly speak to our children about their safe adults. safe adults are the people who they can turn to in times of worry, stress or crisis. safe adults can include;
Parents/carers
Family members
Teachers
Police Officers
Medical professionals
It is important for children to recognise who their safe adults are as they are likely to change depending on their situation; at home, at school or when out playing in the community. Please discuss with your children who their safe adults might be. For further information around safe adults please visit;

What's Cooking?
I have continued to work with children from Team Humber this week, making some delicious Vegetable Paella in celebration of yesterday's Ebor Language Day. The Year 6 children did a fantastic job in entertaining children from Team Nidd and Team Swale. They enjoyed sharing their paella with them and reading Spanish books. Team Swale and Team Nidd also had the opportunity to look at a globe and found Europe and Spain on it. It was a fantastic afternoon for all.
Can I take this opportunity to thank Team Humber again for such a successful afternoon, I really couldn't have done it without them. Well done to you all!
Next week I will be working with Team Aire and we will be making something very exciting to embrace the work they are doing about toys - old and new.
To help you get on with your day and not waiting for a member of the team become available, we would like to ask for the following:
When returning forms, these can be placed into the internal post box located to the left hand side of the entrance doors.
Information regarding change of contact details, address or emergency contacts are to be emailed to admin.shs@ebor.academy. We must hold this information in writing.
A leave of absence form must be completed and returned to the school for all absence unrelated to illness or appointments.
Information regarding appointments are to be emailed to admin.shs@ebor.academy. We will ask for a copy of the appointment confirmation for our records. This can be a photo or a screenshot included in the email.
Whilst it can be easy to speak to someone face to face we will request that most queries be emailed across so they can be passed on to the member of staff so information is not missed.
Please can we also ask that if using the disabled bays when collecting and dropping off that the gates are closed behind you for safeguarding purposes.
