Good afternoon,
The children have had a wonderful week in school and are very keen to learn more about World War 2. They have been fascinated learning about the evacuation of Dunkirk and were shocked by the scenes that those men faced.
On Monday next week we will have the first of our World War 2 experiences, with Mr McKenzie joining us virtually.
On Tuesday, John Weetman, the vicar at Selby Abbey, will be joining the children to talk about why he chose to believe in God.

Coming up next week:
English: the children will be continuing to write their stories based on the evacuation of Dunkirk
Maths - the children will be solving problems involving decimals
Curriculum - the children will be joined virtually by Mr McKenzie, who will take on the role of an air raid warden and then share his understanding of the war from a German perspective - he has German parent
PSHE
Year 6 will be following some bespoke PSHE for the first few weeks. Next week we will be continuing to look at respect and the importance of this to have successful relationships.
Homework:
Reading: the children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown up.
Spelling: the children need to complete at least 5 spelling games per week.
Maths: the children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.
