Dear Families,
We have had a wonderful day in school today and we are so grateful for all of the donations which have been sent in for Children in Need. We managed to fill 32 Pudsey Bears on A3 paper! Have a look at out X feed to see what we have achieved!
On Tuesday next week we will have visitors from Ebor Academy Trust who will spend the day with us in school. When working as part of an Academy Trust it is important that we come together and share good practise and also support one another to reflect and develop further. Colleagues from the Trust will be out on the playground as you drop your children off and I would encourage you to talk to them about out school.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Dear parents and carers,
It is important that when your child is not able to attend school that you phone school EVERY morning that your child does not attend, before 9:00am so that their attendance records are kept up to date. Please leave your child’s name, class and reason for their absence. Please be clear about the reason for absence.
If there is no reason it will be recorded as unauthorised. If we do not hear from you regarding your child’s absence, we will check everything is ok and visit your house as part of our wellbeing and safeguarding checks.
Thank you
Steve Metcalfe
Attendance Lead
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
Please can we also ask that no children play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where the reduced visibility and to make sure that all are looking before crossing roads.

Dear Parents and carers,
For this weeks Safeguarding Thought of the Week I have shared some information regarding Fortnite.
Fortnite is an online game with an age rating of 12, but we are aware that it is popular amongst lots of children. Due to the online nature of the game, it is important for us to all be aware of the risks that this (and other online games can bring).
The information below contains plenty of useful information about Fortnite and what concerns may arise from this game.
Please come speak to myself if you have any questions or concerns around the different social media apps.
Warm regards
Steve Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Team Ouse have finished making their Yo Yo Biscuits in celebration of what they have been learning in the classroom (old and new toys). Well done to you all - all your biscuits were amazing!
Some children from Team Calder joined me in Cook School this week to make some War Time Carrot Cookies. They learnt about rationing and how biscuits may have been made during the war. They were all really surprised how tasty carrot was in a cookie. Well done to you all.
I have also spent some time with Team Ouse this week. They have been making butternut squash soup. The children were able to look at lots of different types of squash and were surprised to find out that they are fruits and not a vegetables. They have tried many new skills including peeling, cutting and grating. They were all in agreement that butternut squash is very hard to cut up! Luckily Mrs Soper was able to do this job! The children learnt about safety in the kitchen and worked really hard. I am very proud of them all and their soup was delicious.
I will continue to work with Team Dove next week.

Cook School Lead
