Good afternoon,
This week the teams were furious to find out that Mr Willson, Mrs Danbury and Mrs Winter wanted to ban PE in our school. The children decided to write a letter of complaint, using proper nouns, to our leadership team to try and change their mind. Their letters were a huge success and the children have PE back! In Geography, we started our new topic ‘Can the community be your team?’ and we created map symbols and keys to show the human features around the Staynor Hall estate.
English: We will be continuing our letters of complaint writing genre. This week we will be focusing on formal and powerful language.
Creative curriculum: We are going on a local walk around the Staynor Hall estate to create an empathy map.
Maths: In Maths we will be focusing on different mental strategies for calculating addition and subtraction.
Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
PSHE: We will be moving onto our Dreams and Goals unit, this week focusing on our dreams, hopes and goals.
Homework is set on a Friday and is due in the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
