Voices Audition Process

Auditioning for Voices is a two-step process: a solo audition and a callback audition. Details on both are below. Please see Mr. Brown if you have any questions!

Solo Audition

Solo Auditions are submitted online. You must record a video of yourself singing and then upload it to a Google Form.

For your video, you will sing one verse and one chorus of a pop song a cappella. Videos should be approximately 1 minute A ‘pop song’ includes almost every style of music excluding classical and musical theater. Auditionees are encouraged to pick music they listen to in their free time and a song that best showcases their voice. Students will receive an email notifying them if they are receiving a callback audition.

ALL SOLO AUDITIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, 9/8 AT 11:59PM. AUDITIONS SUBMITTED AFTER THAT TIME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Callback Audition

Monday, September 16th, 7-8:30pm

EHHS Music Room

Students will be notified by email about callbacks. Those who have received a callback will prepare a song provided by the director. Students should learn the part specified by the director in the callback email. Sheet music as well as learning tracks will be provided and students are encouraged to work together to prepare. It is an expectation that you come to callbacks knowing your part extremely well. Following the callbacks, the director will announce a list of those students who have made the group.

PLEASE READ: What I am looking for in your audition: Strength of voice, tone quality, pitch, dynamics, range, confidence, emotion, and “stage presence”. I am also looking to put together a group with a good balance of voices that will blend together. Please understand that if you do not make it, there are many factors that go into choosing people for an a cappella group.
