User-identified pain points:*
· Lack of data and data governance processes limit data usage and insights
· Low digitalization limits productivity across tools and systems
· Integration of new technologies into operations can be costly
· Significant amount of data is manually collected and processed
Users vary in maturity of data management and analytics capabilities. For many, limited digital maturity is a barrier to increased analytics-based decision-making. Any geospatial or EO solution may need to help bridge this gap. Currently, the industry either relies on manual processes or partners with external vendors that may offer select analytics for specific departments.
When developing geospatial or EO tools, it will be critical to create accessible digital infrastructure that translates satellite imagery and other geospatial into useable insights with minimal need for digital investment or upskilling of users. Users identified 3 specific needs, each requiring one or more specific geospatial products (geo-requirements):
1. User Need 5.1: Access to digital imagery portal that requires minimal data science or engineering expertise
2. User Need 5.2: Pre-summarized insights available via simple commands
3. User Need 5.3: Automatic, consistent data ingestion to ensure timely insights
