This session will describe the historical context and importance of the tenets of a Restorative Justice practice, as well as the clinical concepts central to a variety of practice applications including how it can be effectively leveraged in an educational setting.
Meeta Gandhi, currently serves as Chief Equity Officer at KIPP NYC where she is primarily responsible for developing, launching and supporting a long-term strategic vision for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work at KIPP NYC. The role is to work to eliminate systemic and organizational marginalization while promoting and transforming the culture and practices to become more anti-racist and inclusive at every level of our organization, including students & families, employees, and leadership.
Before assuming the responsibilities with KIPP NYC, she had over 20 years of experience as a social worker and program director specializing in family systems therapy in community psychiatry. Since moving to the educator sector, she has enhanced her craft by adopting the tenets central to Restorative Justice Practices and Identity Conscious Leadership. Meeta is passionate about social justice and providing holistic care and education to youth, families and staff with special focus on elevating all voices in complex conflict dialogues. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr (BA in Psychology) and Columbia University (MSW), holds Certificates in Healthcare Management from NYU as well as Schooling for Critical Consciousness of Racism and Racial Justice from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
