Leadership in equity-centered schools plays a pivotal role in shaping systems, culture, and practices that either sustain or dismantle inequity and design for belonging. This workshop invites leaders at all levels to reflect on their agency and responsibility in designing for equity across their spheres of influence. Through a blend of case studies, practical tools, and collaborative design, participants will examine how leadership practices—whether in classrooms, departments, or at the executive level—can intentionally foster inclusion, justice, and belonging.
Grounded in scenarios and supported by research-informed frameworks, this session explores:
The difference between performative and transformative equity leadership
How to identify and redesign inequitable systems and practices
Tools for mapping influence and applying design thinking to equity challenges
Practices for sustaining courageous, equity-centered leadership over time
Who Should Attend: School leaders, teacher leaders, DEI coordinators, administrators, and anyone interested in strengthening their leadership practice through an equity lens.
