06/18/2025 Red Canyon Fire

9pm Update 6/19/25:
The #RedCanyonFire was mapped at 8 acres and is 100% contained. One Interagency Hotshot Crew, and one federal engine will remain on scene through tomorrow to continue mopping up internal heat and pockets of fuel. Smoke may still be visible. The right lane of I-70 west bound will be open in the next hour.
9:00 p.m. Update 6/18/25:
Update: Crews are making great progress on #RedCanyonFire. Resources will remain on scene throughout the night securing containment lines and mopping up interior heat. The incident commander estimates containment tonight at 10 p.m. and full control tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eagle County Emergency Management will adjust the evacuation notice to pre-evacuation at 9 p.m. tonight. 7:45 p.m. Update 6/18/25:
Update: Firefighting resources have stopped forward progress, and the #RedCanyonFire is holding at an estimated 10 acres. East bound I-70 is reopened and 1 lane of west bound I-70 is anticipated to be opened as soon as emergency responders feel it’s safe. Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit appreciates the efforts and support from our partners at Eagle County Sheriff's Office, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Eagle Valley Wildland, Vail Fire EMS, Eagle County Emergency Management, Gypsum Fire Protection District, Avon Police Department, Vail Police Department, Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Colorado State Patrol.
5:50 p.m. Update 6/18/25
New : Multiple federal and county resources are taking suppression actions on the #RedCanyonFire 4 miles west of Wolcott. The fire is estimated to be 10 acres in size and is quickly advancing. East and west bound I-70 are closed for firefighter and public safety and Eagle County has issued an evacuation order for the area adjacent to the fire. Resources on scene or enroute include Engines, Air Attack Aircraft, Type 1 Hotshot Crew and a Type 1 Helicopter
