A strong cold front moved through most of eastern Utah and western Colorado last night. The front will continue to push through SW CO this morning before exiting by midday. Colder air behind the front will change any rain in the lower elevations to snow. Limited impacts are expected from the snow outside of the higher terrain.
Widespread showers are expected through the morning hours before activity begins to favor the higher terrain along the Continental Divide this afternoon. Showers are expected to linger there into Wednesday.
Heavy snow will continue in the western Colorado mountains where several inches of additional accumulation is likely. Snow intensity will begin to wane this afternoon.
A hard freeze is expected tonight for the lower valleys that have susceptible vegetation.
While the strongest winds have come to an end across most of the region, winds will remain gusty at times through the day with gusts up to 35 mph in the valleys and 55 mph in the mountains.
