Recruitment season for the 2024-2025 school year will open in October!  

Make sure to pick up an application from Ms. Wisbey in room 3107, the DHS counseling office, or your 8th grade teacher (if you are at Luke, Dysart Middle, Sonoran Middle, Riverview, or Marley Park).  Please make sure you submit a COMPLETED application by the day your course selection guide is due to avoid being wait listed.  ALL Feeder schools have been given multiple copies of the applications. 

Please make sure you read what makes you a great candidate for AVID. 

Be in the academic middle earning mostly B and C grades; even an occasional D  (2.5-3.5 GPA)

Have the desire to go to college, motivation for success and the willingness to work hard.

Regular attendance to all classes and minimal discipline problems  

Capable of completing rigorous curriculum but may be falling short of their potential 

Typically, they will be the first in their families to attend college, and many are from low-income or minority families.
