Introduction to Project
In-class "mini" Solo Project: Read segments of a few theatre theories; create a short theatre theory in class; trade theories; create a short solo piece from the theory; present the short solo; class discussion on the aspects observed and use of aspects in the performance.
Research-at-a-glance. Choosing a theorist. Provided list of 50+ theorists with support pages to jump start research. Each student given 5 recommended theorists, but able to choose from others if they wish.
Deep research on theorist and theorist's theory using "jump-start" research and own research. *Make sure that you come to understand and be able to state the theater theorist's theory.
Choose theorist's aspect(s) to explore in creating your piece.
Present on theorist, theory and aspect.
Experiment with aspect in context of the theory. Not required by IB, but is required by Ms. G.
Choose content for performance.
Develop solo piece using chosen aspects of theater theorist's theories in the context of the theory.
Feedback - giving and receiving.
Further development of piece.
Performance of solo piece with audience feedback.
Reflective paper: Go to the "Structuring the report for the solo piece" section of this website for how to lay out your paper and paper expectations. Honors Students submit performance and writing during an exam for assessment, but do not do full paper.
