PRODUCTION PROPOSAL: Overview

STEPS:

• Read Plays throughout 11th grade, especially over the summer  between 11th & 12th grade

• Find a play that you REALLY want to direct and design

• Commit to a play text in September of 12th grade

• Journal about your experiences of reading the play and its impact on you and your ideas

• Choose a moment of the play you want to do as a practical lab in directing and designing for Scene Night

• Do a variety of prep exercises to help you direct and design your play

• After scene night, create your production proposal which includes your:

  •  investigation into the context, themes and ideas in the play (includes charts, collages and mind maps)

  • your statement of artistic intention (focus: directing and design)

  • your directing and design plans for a complete production (includes images)

  •  an explanation of how you would direct and design ONE moment of the play to effectively create TEAM in the moment (TEAM = tension, emotion, atmosphere and meaning)

  • SUBMIT draft that is the best work you can do - a production proposal you would submit to IB

  • Receive feedback from Ms. Guzowski

  • Do revision
