I wanted to write a song that was focused on the big moments in life that we spend our whole lives preparing for, and the fact that we as humans are sometimes nervous to approach them. I wanted the lyrics to somehow encourage us to take these moments with pride, because they can sometimes determine a big part of our lives. To create the song, I hopped on Logic Pro and YouTube and first found samples from those sources. Next, I used a MIDI keyboard to record the keyboard sounds. Then, I recorded my own background voices as samples that would be integrated within the music. Finally, I recorded the lead vocals, which include singing and rapping. Ultimately, I am very proud of the final product and hope it inspires others as well.
How long have you been writing music and what instruments do you play?
I have been coming up with my own musical ideas ever since I was nine years old, using garageband. For instruments, I mostly play
piano and keyboard, which allows me to play many different types of MIDI-generated instrument sounds. I also play drums and other types of percussion.
What was the last song you heard that you wished you'd written?
A song that I last heard that I wish I had written is "Fortnight" by Taylor Swift. I love the retro-sounding instrumentals and also like the lyrics, as well as Swift's talented vocals integrated into the piece.
Who are three artists you recommend for everyone to listen to?
One artist that I would recommend everyone to listen to is Michael Jackson. It may sound cliche, but his works, even the ones not highly recognized, represent great examples of how today's music has been formed. His works were a big inspiration for me growing up.
