26th Cycle of Emirates Environmental Group Inter School Speaking Competition - 2nd Place - Proud Moment for Our School!
We are delighted to share that our school team achieved an impressive 2nd Place in the Sub-Senior category of the EEG Inter School Speaking Competition, achieving 180 out of 200 points! Competing against a strong field of talented students, from various schools, our team demonstrated excellent skills, teamwork, and determination throughout the event.
Our students practised diligently during remote learning days and on the day of the event. Their performance reflects not only their hard work and dedication, but also their ability to collaborate effectively and represent the school with confidence and integrity. This achievement is a testament to their commitment and the support they receive from both school and home.
We congratulate our students - Haya, Kihoza, Ollie, Saashisha and Sebastian - on this well-deserved success and look forward to many more accomplishments in the future.

Charru (Grade 4) has a remarkable talent for performing a South Indian dance, Bharatanatyam. It is one of the oldest classical dance forms from India. She has been training for many years and has immersed herself in this expressive dance. She has clearly worked with so much discipline to achieve a high level of creative interpretation and her expressions are thoughtful and very well rehearsed. Being away from the culture makes it particularly hard to learn, so she has worked really hard to understand and relate to the intricacies of this dance form.
Eda (Grade 6) completed another brilliant dance show weekend this year. With 5 professional fully booked shows, it was again a huge success. What made this year's event more special that the dancers continued to work hard during the distance learning period, showing a huge resilience and dedication. Another challenge for Eda was the fact that she had a toe fracture but didn't hesitate to attend the rehearsals with a wheel chair to keep track! We think this is a wonderful showcase about resilience, dedication and following your dreams.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Unification of the UAE Armed Forces, our students have created an outstanding Padlet filled with heartfelt messages of gratitude, pride, and appreciation for the brave men and women who protect our nation.
We are truly proud of the maturity, reflection, and national spirit shown by our students in expressing what the UAE Armed Forces mean to them in terms of unity, safety, and belonging.
You can view the messages of gratitude from Dwight students here.
This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to developing students’ voice, values, and understanding of their role as responsible and proud members of the UAE community.
We encourage you to take a moment to explore their messages and celebrate this important national milestone with us.

Books, Roses, and Culture
On 23rd April, our DP Spanish students explored the significance of World Book Day, learning about authors such as Miguel de Cervantes. They also discovered Sant Jordi, a cultural and romantic tradition in Spain known as the “Day of Books and Roses,” where people exchange books and roses.
This activity supported IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, especially communication and cultural awareness, while strengthening students’ cultural understanding, an essential aspect of Spanish.

Dear Parents,
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone for the calm, positive, and collaborative way in which we have transitioned back to distance learning this week. Students have shown great focus. The adaptability shown by teachers has helped to maintain high-quality learning.
At the time of writing this Parent Bulletin, we have not yet received confirmation from the authorities for the return to in-person learning. We are hopeful that this has been a short-term precautionary safety measure and that we will be back in school on Monday.
A reminder that the current model of simultaneous synchronous and in-person teaching will not be sustainable beyond today (Friday, 8th May). When the authorities permit the return to in-person learning, students who remain off-site will therefore move to an asynchronous learning model. Should you wish for your child to continue with asynchronous learning through to the end of term, we kindly ask that you contact Mrs Hornshaw, Vice Principal & Head of Lower School, or Ms Smyth, Vice Principal & Head of Upper School, if you have not already done so, to discuss the arrangements.
Extra-curricular activities (ECAs) and swimming lessons (for PreK to Grade 5) will resume next week. For swimming, children will need a black / navy blue swim costume or shorts / jammers, swim cap, swim goggles, flip flops, towel, PE kit for changing, and a refillable water bottle. To ensure the smooth running of lessons, the Physical & Health Education team recommends that children wear their swim kit to school, with PE kit over the top.

Warm regards,
David Hutson | Head of School
