Parents are warmly invited to join our Rock the Stage event, featuring talented Dwight musicians, on Friday 22nd May at Hard Rock, Dubai Sports City.
We are also pleased to invite Upper School students to audition next week for the 2026 Summer Concert, which will place after school on Thursday, June 25th. The Summer Concert is our culminating performance event of the year and a wonderful celebration of the talent, creativity, and dedication of our student musicians. Auditions are open to students in Grades 6–12, and we welcome both singers and instrumentalists to audition either as soloists or as part of an ensemble.
If your child would like to participate, please support them in signing up for an audition slot next week by using the link below. We look forward to celebrating another fantastic year of music together!

Good luck to all our participating students!
Important Notice:
All students from Grades 1-9 will need to bring headphones to school each day during this period that have a cord and that can be connected to their personal devices. Bluetooth or wireless headphones are not appropriate for these assessments.
Please find below the Assessment Week Timetables for Grades 6-9 GL Progress Tests and Etqaan Arabic and Islamic Assessments:
Grade 6, Grade 7, Grade 8, Grade 9
For Grades 1-5, they will complete their GL Assessments between 1st June - 19th June during their homeroom lessons, staggered over the three week period to ensure an age-appropriate setting for the children. For Etqaan Assessments, these will also be staggered in their normal Arabic and Islamic lessons.
GL Progress Tests (English, Maths and Science)
Preparation for the GL assessments is integrated into the curriculum. To support preparation, teachers will provide the necessary materials through home learning and during their normal class activities. There will not be additional revision material specifically for GL assessments, as the curriculum being assessed already aligns with the content students are already studying in class. For Upper School students, teachers will offer resources during home learning and study periods that will support the preparation for the GL Assessments.
Etqaan Arabic and Islamic Benchmark Test
Preparation for the Etqaan assessments is integrated into the curriculum. To support students in this preparation, teachers will provide necessary materials through home learning and during regular class sessions. There will not be any additional revision materials specifically for Etqaan assessments, as the curriculum being assessed aligns with the content students are already studying in class. For Upper School students, teachers will offer resources during home learning and study periods to enhance students’ readiness for the Etqaan assessments.

Our Grade 4 students shone this week with a fantastic Bodyology exhibition. Our young doctors explored the human body with curiosity and confidence, showing how our body systems connect and keep us healthy every day. They inspired us all to learn more! Their explanations, models, and reflections highlighted not only what they’ve learned, but the thoughtful habits they’re developing as young learners.
A big thank you to our parents for joining us and celebrating the students’ hard work and growth. It was wonderful to see our community come together to support their learning journey.

Grade 10 to Grade 11 DP/CP Transition Programme
Next week, our Grade 10 students will take part in the Grade 10 to Grade 11 DP/CP Transition Programme, designed to support their move into the IBDP and IBCP. The week will give students a meaningful first look at life as a Grade 11 student, while also allowing them to enjoy time together before they begin their work experience placements.
Throughout the week, students will experience a range of DP and CP lessons, including subjects such as Mathematics AA/AI, Sciences, Languages, English, Business, Psychology, History, Visual Arts, Global Politics, TOK, PPS, CAS and CP-related sessions. These lessons will give students the chance to meet teachers, ask questions, explore future course choices, and better understand what learning will look and feel like next academic year.
Alongside the academic focus, the programme also includes sessions designed to build confidence, wellbeing, teamwork and connection. Students will take part in group fitness, a scavenger hunt, an Escape Room, MUN, a Grade 11 and 12 Q&A, and reflective sessions. These activities are intended to bring energy and fun to the week while helping students think about the next stage of their school journey.
Students will also attend sessions linked to their upcoming work experience and professional etiquette, supporting them as they prepare to enter workplace settings and begin developing their confidence as young professionals. This is an exciting step for Grade 10, and we look forward to seeing them engage fully with the programme, ask thoughtful questions, and make the most of this important transition period.
Please note that students should arrive at school on time each day for 7:45 AM registration. Students should wear their PE kit on Tuesday 19 May for the group fitness session.

Careers Day
I wanted to take a moment to again acknowledge our recent Careers Day speakers Jem Felicilda, Ismail Alashqar and Max Marka who delivered relevant and timely career information and future planning advice to our Dwight School community. These sessions were extremely informative and provided not only essential guidance but also spoke to the importance of mindset and much needed skills which students could begin to develop to better prepare for the future. Thank you also to the many in our community who attended: your support continues to bolster my world of work.
Experience Work Programme
Work on the upcoming Experience Work Program, running from June 1st–11th, continues. Please note it is an expectation that all of our Grade 10 students are involved, in the past we have achieved a 100% participation rate. Consistently, the program offers students an invaluable opportunity to explore workplace culture, develop professional skills and gain clarity on their future direction. We will close with our much-celebrated community Workplace Showcase on Thursday, June 11th, where parents will be invited to attend.
Please be reminded that there will be no school provision (lessons) during Experience Work for G10 students.
For any who have secured placements, please have fully completed forms returned to me by Monday, May 18th. If you haven't already done so, scan the document and email it to me with your child's name in the subject header (e.g. David Turner Work Placement).
Having career opportunities like these are deeply enriching and go a long way to support university applications.

Dear Parents,
In case you missed the earlier announcement, we can confirm that this year's Eid Al Adha break will be observed by schools from Monday, 25th to Sunday, 31st May (change to original calendar). Schools will resume on Monday, 1st June.
I would also like to remind parents that there will be an early closure on Wednesday, 3rd June (to allow for Staff Professional Development in the afternoon). Finish times are detailed in the calendar below.
Congratulations to Maria and Alicja, our exceptionally talented Grade 12 Visual Art students, on their outstanding Art Exhibition. Their artwork is both thoughtful and visually striking, showcasing not only their technical skill but also their creativity, depth of thinking, and personal expression. The exhibition (in the Welcome Hub) is a reflection of their dedication and growth as artists, and it is a pleasure for our community to see their ideas brought to life.
Congratulations to Grade 4 students for the wonderful Bodyology Exhibition in which they showcased their learning about the different human body systems that are interconnected and work together to maintain life.
As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and preparedness, I would like to let you know that we will be conducting a short Shelter in Place practice at some point next week. The previous planned practice was postponed as we temporarily returned to distance learning. Students will be informed in advance that this is a practice, and it will be scheduled carefully to avoid disruption to key events such as examinations and exhibitions. While staff have already received full training, and students have taken part in safety briefings and tours of designated Safe Zones, it is important that we now practise together as a whole school community.
