ARRIVAL AND ABSENCES
Teacher report time is 8:30 a.m., and the workday ends at 5:00 p.m.
The student school day is from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Even though you may not be assigned a class during first period, you are still required to be on campus at 8:30 am each day.
If you are running late, call and/or text your department chair, duty team, and your supervisor. Department chairs will be responsible for devising a monitoring plan for your students if you are running late and when we are waiting on the arrival of a substitute teacher.
If you're going to be absent, document your absences in AESOP and contact your immediate supervisor by phone as soon as you can. Last minute absences result in uncovered classes. Be mindful of your colleagues.
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
All teachers are responsible for creating an inviting and welcoming environment by decorating their doors, classroom and space outside in the hallway. Please attempt to complete decorating prior to the first day of school, and the decorations will need to be changed/updated throughout the school year.
Take care of your classroom. If every teacher takes pride in the appearance of his/her room, the students will also take pride in their classrooms. Keep your lights off when the room is unoccupied.
Talk with your class regarding lunch expectations. Continuous emphasis placed on student behavior during lunch by the teacher will help make supervision better for all. Teachers will escort their students to.
You are responsible for any and all items that are issued to you (example: books, calculators, I-pads, technology, materials, manipulatives, computers etc.)
Keep your room and the teacher's lounge clean. We want you to have comfortable surroundings.
DAILY PROCEDURES
Check your voicemail, e-mail, and mailbox daily and respond to messages in a timely manner (within 48 hours). Instructions for setting up voice mail and changing your message may be obtained from the technology department at 2300.
Printed communication cannot be sent home without the principal’s approval.
If you need to leave the campus, sign out in the front office. The only time you do not have to sign out is during your lunch. Also, be sure to sign in upon your return.
When a faculty meeting is scheduled, attend and be prompt.
Turn off all technology when not in use.
HALLWAY PROCEDURES
No passes should be given the first or last 10 minutes of the period. If you release students during the allowable times, provide them with a hall pass. Be sure to have students to sign out and back in whenever they leave and return to the classroom.
Students will not be sent to the hall for punishment without supervision.
Occasionally, teachers are may be responsible for escorting their students to lunch, and some dismissal locations.
CLUBS AND CAMPUS EVENTS
Any teacher who sponsors a club or organization must keep updated records, and provide a copy of the policies and procedures for the administrators.
Do not conduct fundraisers without prior approval from the principal.
Club sponsors are responsible for the supervision of students after school hours.
Staff Professional Dress Code

An employee’s dress and grooming shall be clean, neat, in a manner appropriate for his or her assignment, and in accordance with any additional standards established by his or her supervisor and approved by the Superintendent. DH (Local)
All employees should subscribe to and follow a daily minimum dress code that exceeds that of students. Employees should project a professional image at all times.
Slacks with a professional fit are appropriate. Capri and cropped pants should be no shorter than mid-calf.
Blue jeans may be worn only on Fridays with a school spirit shirt. Jeans should not be unduly faded or contain holes. Colored jeans may be worn on Fridays as long as they meet the professional dress code.
Staff should not wear shorts or gym attire while serving in a classroom or office. Hats, caps, or other head apparel are not permitted. Exceptions: CTE teachers/ coaches may wear appropriate gear for assigned activities.
Halter tops, exposed midriffs, strapless and/or low cut tops, exposed backs, spaghetti straps, see-through clothing, and tank tops are not permitted.
T-Shirts are only permitted on Wednesdays for College and Military Days and on Fridays if it is a Duncanville ISD Spirit Shirt.
Skirts and dresses should be of a respectable, modest length (at minimum, fingertips). Leggings may be worn under a dress if the length requirement is met. Undergarments shall not be visible or exposed.
No shower type flip-flops may be worn at school.
Visible tattoos and similar body paintings that promote violence, are considered offensive, inflammatory or disruptive to the learning environment are prohibited.
In keeping with professional decorum, hair must be a natural color, ears are the only exposed areas of the body on which pierced jewelry may be worn and only professional style jewelry is permitted.
Support staff (custodial, food service, maintenance, and transportation staff) shall be neat, clean, and dressed appropriately, as described in their respective handbooks.
Campus staff may dress casually for calendar designated staff work days as directed by the campus principal or supervisor.
Professional dress is expected for in and out of district workshops and staff development.
All employees are role models and should dress accordingly. Questionable attire will be addressed on an individual basis by the principal or supervisor.
*Business casual attire in alignment with the employee dress code is also permissible for the 2023-2024 school year at the discretion of the supervisor.
