Contact a campus administrator immediately at Ext. 3100. A campus administrator will instruct Mrs. Arredondo to call (by two way radio and/or telephone) all campus administrators, nurses, campus police officers, and the counselor to meet in the principal's office. Instructions and assignments will be given at that time.
Mrs. Arredondo and Ms. Arredondo will stand at the nearest entrance to direct emergency medical team and the police to the crisis location.
A principal will activate the automated system for the PA to say, "___________"
The administrators and counselor will contact the parents of students involved in crisis.
Administrators will clear classrooms or halls where the crisis occurred. Classes and other involved students will be sent to the cafeteria. According to the severity of the crisis, Ms. Thompson will inform teachers of basic information and immediate plans by a brief announcement or memo. Check your e-mail. Any teacher on conference will report to the library.
Campus maintenance personnel, Mr. Campbell, and Mrs. Ford will secure all campus entrances. Admittance to only district administrators and emergency personnel will be allowed.
After the crisis victims have been removed from the campus and the administration and police have assessed the crisis area, the crisis area will be cleaned. (This area may or may not be used for the remainder of the day/week).
Immediately following the crisis and throughout the remainder of the day, students who are emotionally upset will be sent to the counselor. Teachers on the Crisis Team should report to the office during their instructional planning block to assist.
The counselor will provide information to teachers with suggestions of what to discuss and how to discuss information about the crisis with each of their classes.
Administrators will determine the necessity of calling other district counselors, setting up on-going support, and setting up any necessary parent meetings.
