203210 Precalculus
Prerequisite: geometry and Algebra II Credit: 1
This course includes the study of the trigonometric functions, graphing trigonometric functions, solving right triangle problems and trigonometric equations, and deriving, proving and using trigonometric identities. Graphing calculators are used extensively in this course to aid in understanding and learning. Other topics are included in the course in order to provide the background needed to succeed in calculus. These include the study of functions and their graphs, polynomial functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, vectors, complex numbers, sequences and series, and second-degree relations.
203220 PAP Precalculus
Prerequisite: PAP Algebra 2 or Algebra 2 Credit: 1
Pre-AP Precalculus covers the same essential knowledge and skills as regular Precalculus; however, the depth of coverage and the level of difficulty are much greater. Students should commit to three to five hours per week of outside class independent activity and/or study.
203221 UT OnRamps Precalculus
Prerequisite: Algebra II or Pre-AP Algebra II & Fee (Tuition) Credit: 1
DSHS staff in collaboration with The University of Texas Professors teach OnRamp courses. These courses fit into a normal schedule which allows students to take the courses while also taking ACC Dual Enrollment courses. However students do not need to be enrolled in ACC dual enrolment courses to qualify and take OnRamp courses. Students will earn high school credit for PreAp PreCalculus and college credit for PreCalculus (M 305G). Students will earn 3 hours of college credit for PreCalculus and 1 credit of high school credit. The curriculum and instructional pedagogy is based on the latest research on how students learn best and enhanced by technology and robust learning analytics.
