201210 Geometry

Prerequisite: Algebra 1 Credit:1

Geometry is taken after the successful completion of Algebra I. The course is based upon the principles of deductive reasoning and the use of logical thinking processes. Topics studied include congruence and similarity, special segments and angle relationships in polygons and circles, parallelism and perpendicularity, right angle relations and trigonometric ratios, coordinate geometry, transformational geometry, perimeter and area of plane figures, and volume and surface area of solid figures. The use of the calculator minimizes emphasis on computational skills while logical thinking, deductive and inductive reasoning, problem solving, and applications are paramount in this course. This course may be taken concurrently with Algebra II with prior approval.

201220 Pre-AP Geometry

Prerequisite: Algebra 1 Credit:1

Pre-AP geometry covers the same essential knowledge and skills as regular geometry; however, the depth of coverage, the level of difficulty, and the emphasis on proofs are much greater. This course may be taken concurrently with Algebra II with prior approval.

201225 GT Pre-AP Geometry

Prerequisite: Pre-AP Algebra 1 and GT identification Credit:1

GT Pre-AP Geometry covers the same essential knowledge and skills as Pre-AP geometry; however, is taught to meet the needs of identified gifted and talented students. This course may be taken concurrently with GT Pre-AP Algebra II with prior approval.
