Advanced Floral Design and Event Planning
Prerequisite: Principles of Floral Design
Advanced Floral Design is a yearlong course designed to build on the foundation of knowledge established in the Principles of Floral Design course. In this class, the students will be introduced to more advanced floral design concepts with an emphasis on specialty designs, special occasion planning and key components of the hospitality industry.
This course will focus on providing students with enhanced experiences to enrich their skills in advanced floral design, their knowledge of design elements and planning techniques used in the hospitality industry and with special events. This course will also have an emphasis on budgeting and entrepreneurship to equip students with the critical skills necessary for success in the floral industry.
In order to maximize the learning opportunities of this class, a $25 lab fee is required to cover the cost of fresh floral materials, plant materials and additional supplies.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to test for the Texas State Floral Association Certification (Level II), which is the professional certificate of competency in the floral industry (additional testing fee required).
