Being part of the orchestra has honestly been one of the biggest things that’s helped me grow as a person. At first, I was super nervous about playing in front of people and didn’t think I was good enough, but over time I got more confident and started trusting myself more. Working with other musicians taught me how important teamwork and patience are, and I’ve learned to really listen—not just to the music, but to the people around me. It’s also helped me stay focused and disciplined, because you can’t just show up without practicing. Overall, orchestra has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way, and I feel like I’ve come a long way because of it.
This was my first performance as the Concert Master/First Chair Violinist. I have been an the Orchestra since 4th grade and I have worked hard enough to become the Concert Master for the Chamber Orchestra here at Drew.
