I created a ChemVas typography using different Art and Chemitry objects to spell out the word "ChemVas." I used a pallet for the C, pencils for the H, test tubes for the E, magnets for the M, rulers for the V, a flask for the A, and element of sulfur for the S. I also added color and texture to bring the picture more to life. The textured part of the picture just brings the whole drawing to life because it's like you can feel it and the color part of the drawing just makes it more fun to look at because the colors make it more interesting. That is my ChemVas typography.
"It's All Elementary"
Drawing
My element is Carbon. I portrayed this element by making a power plant that is emitting smoke or carbon because power plants are a large contributor to carbon emissions. I also added dead trees because that is what the carbon emissions do to the environment. I used color and shape in my drawing to help portray these things.
I made a sculpture of the periodic element Sulfur. I added the atomic number of Sulfur, a meteor because meteors contain large amounts of sulfur, and a blue background to show that the meteor is falling from the sky. I made this by first, sculpting the clay into the specific pieces that I want. Next, I made indents in the clay and used the score and slip method to attach all of the different objects on to the main block so it would stick. Finally, I glazed it to get the colors I needed for all of it to come together. Some areas that I could improve on in my ceramics making is making more distinct and noticeable objects for it to look nicer and make more sense. That is my Ceramics project.
In this class, we made a mini golf hole. To make this golf hole, we used carboard, pipe, wood, and a bunch of different materials to piece it all together. In all, it took us about 3 and a half weeks to do and I really enjoyed building it.
