For our project, we designed a tattoo and researched how tattoos affect the body and the different steps involved in the process. Tattoos work by injecting ink into the dermis, the second layer of skin, where it remains permanently. The process starts with designing the tattoo, followed by preparing the skin through cleaning and shaving. Then, a tattoo artist uses a machine with needles to insert ink into the skin. Afterward, proper aftercare is crucial, including keeping the tattoo clean, moisturized, and protected from the sun to ensure healing. Our research also covered how tattoos interact with the immune system, as the body treats the ink as a foreign substance, leading to an immune response that helps keep the ink in place. Understanding these steps is essential for both safety and ensuring a long-lasting tattoo.
