What can we do about mass shootings, What actions need to be done to stop mass shootings? My name is Torrence Sturdivant, and I fear that when I get older I will have to start to buy bulletproof bags or send my child to school with a bulletproof vest on because it's getting out of hand. That's why I ask you the question” What can we do about it”. What can we do about it as a community as a whole no matter the race? Children are dying, and parents and families are grieving because someone feels the need to take someone's life. And there are reasons behind it like a bully and not getting the love a kindness that EVERYONE needs. There have been more than 22 mass shootings in less than a year. In less than 3 days April 10,9,8. There have been 7 deaths and 15 injuries due to the mass shooting. Is school even safe anymore? With all these guns and weapons being available to students and teachers, they walk watching over  54

heir backs and it shouldn’t be like that you should be able to have a great school experiment and should come to school comfortable and safe as a place to get anyway from home a be with friends.

 GUNS are way too available nowadays. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution gives Americans the right to bear arms, and about a third of U.S. adults say they own a gun. At the same time, President Joe Biden and other policymakers earlier this year passed new restrictions on firearm access in an effort to address gun violence ranging from rising murder rates in some major cities to mass shootings. Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens (ages 1 to 19) in the United States. Every year, 19,000 children and teens are shot and killed or wounded and approximately 3 million are exposed to gun violence. Children and teens in the U.S. are impacted by gun violence in all its forms. Exposure to gun violence has an impact on the mental well-being of children and teens and affects their school performance, among other factors. When homes, neighborhoods, and schools are not safe from gun violence, entire generations of American children are affected.

I need for there to better gun laws and better ways to prevent or stop the youth and irresponsible beings from buying guns and weapons. The moment that an irresponsible person releases their finger off the trigger everyone and thing else is irrelevant because in their mind they have decided to kill for whatever there is feeling

 We can Reduce firearm access to youth and individuals who are at risk of harming themselves or others. Hold the gun industry accountable and ensure there is adequate oversight over the marketing and sales of guns and ammunition. Insist on mandatory training and licensing for owners. And more importantly we can vote on a representative whether that major, secretary, vice president, or president that has the same mindset and is going to speak up and be a voice for us and all the many horrible outcomes that came along with gun violence and mass shooting.
