ChemVAS Typography

Today we created a ChemVAS digital poster. We were given a rubric to follow. The rubric stated that we had to use different items that represent chemistry and art to create the letters in the artwork. In my artwork, I used items such as atoms and pencils to represent different parts of chemistry and art. I also used black to emphasize the words on the colorful background I created.

It's All Elementary Final Digital Artwork

In class, we were assigned an element and were tasked with creating digital artwork that represents the element. The element I was assigned was calcium, and I decided to use a bone as a representation. The most difficult part for me was the appearance of the bone. I wanted to add a rigid design on the bone, but I could not find a successful way to create it. What went well was finding the colors I wanted since I wanted a way to sho different shades of a light yellow-white. Next time, I would like to create a more detailed bone or a limestone cave since that calcium is also found in limestone.

Record a 1 to 3 min video of yourself discussing your feelings about the project and becoming an author.

Ancient Civilization PBL

We have been learning about ancient civilizations such as ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China. This project was about replicating the building process of ancient civilizations. In my group, I helped to form our group’s brick. I observed the process of building a shelter. I learned that ancient civilizations were built with teamwork and trust. This relates to other classes as we are learning about ancient civilizations.

Ceramics

In ChemVAS I created a ceramic tile. To create this I rolled out clay for the base, and with my remaining clay I created my design. This relates to chemistry because my tile was created for the element Xenon. What I would improve about my creation is make the outsides of my base and letters more straight.

Final Slideshow

Deeply Rooted was a whole grade-level project for 2nd quarter, about how symbols can show the similarities and differences between cultures. We researched cultural symbols around the world and came up with our own symbols that represent our modern lives. In Art class, we created handmade paper and Borax crystals which we used to make symbols. I chose to make a hypnosis spiral inside of a phone, which symbolizes how we as people are always engulfed in our phones and technology. Creating the paper was easy, the only thing I would change is making more paper so I could make my design 3D. On the day of the showcase, our work was featured alongside performances representing cultures around the world.

joyluckclub

The Joy Luck

In Literature we are reading a book called The Joy Luck Club. The book is about four families' past lives who all connect in the Joy Luck Club a club where they play mahjong together. Groups were assigned a chapter to read and teach to the class. My group was given pages 85-122. What went well for my group was summarizing the theme and main idea of the given chapters. What we struggled with was coming up with engaging activities for the class. Having the class present chapters to each other was more enjoyable than reading the book because it was faster and the students know how to engage eachother.

Columbian Exchange Reflections

The Columbian Exchange was the trade of goods, animals, and diseases between the Eastern and Western hemispheres. The discovery of America and the Caribbean by Christopher Columbus started the Columbian Exchange. Three items transferred from the Eastern hemisphere to the Western hemisphere are bananas, turnips, and grapes. One meal that I love that includes ingredients from both hemispheres is Banana pudding which includes bananas from the east and vanilla from the west. During our PBL project, I helped my group by helping cook the corn and explaining how our meal connected to the Columbian Exchange.

Tarsh Freeman - Tattoo Design Process

Final Tattoo slides

We completed the design process to create our own tattoo designs.

I am poem

In class we created a poem about ourselves. I chose to create my poem on my time as an elementary aged kid.

Figurative Language Presentation

I was tasked with creating an educational presentation on figurative speech. I chose to work in a group and create a short, silent film to show examples of each figure of speech.

Proproganda poster

In Spanish class we designed proproganda posters to use for our class strike. We went on strike to inspire change about our school's uniform policy. My poster represents how we pay a large amount of money for uncomfortable uniforms.

UN BLOG/VLOG DE VIAJE

In Spanish class we created our own travel blog describing a trip around South America. The trip includes 3 destinations with attractions visited, food eaten, and prices. At the end we were tasked with providing a video describing one of the hostels/hotels we stayed in.
