ChemVAS Typography

In class, we brainstormed things that come to our minds when we think of science and art. After this, we looked for transparent images of the ideas we brainstormed. Then we added the transparent images to a sketching app. We used the transparent images to spell out ChemVAS. Lastly, I added a background.

Artist statement

For this project I had to create artwork digitally that showed at least two principles of design. The artwork also had to relate to my element and had to show that I have good usage of digital tools. In my artwork, I came up with the idea to make my element shown in places it’s found. Since it was found in earth crusts and in soil I put the beryllium in the soil with the earth crusts behind it. The two principles of design I used are proportion and emphasis. I used emphasis by making the soil, crust, and beryllium stand out by changing the opacity of the background. I used proportion by making the soil fit into the shape of the earth’s crusts. While making this I had problems using the tools to cut out the earth’s crusts. Changing the opacity of the earth was easy. This helps for further projects since I can now use the principles of design to make them better.

Ceramic Artist Statement

This is My Favorite Things ceramic artwork. It included a planet that was meant to be a basketball, money, and a computer mouse. In the beginning, I started with clay and made a rectangle to place items on. I molded a basketball, mouse, and money with the clay and used my knowledge of how to get the items to stay on the base rectangle. After this, I put it into the kiln and got it hard so I could then add color to it. After I got done adding color, I put it back into the kiln to get the final result as shown. The kiln relates to chemistry since the clay getting hard is a chemical reaction. The next time I will be more careful painting my ceramic since I spilled some of the colors on the basketball which messed it up and caused me to make it a planet.

Simeon Adams - Deeply Rooted

Deeply Rooted ChemVAS

Deeply rooted was a project that we did for the whole grade.  During this project we were asked how trees can symbolize cultural differences and similarities. For my class ChemVAS we made symbols with paper and crystals. My paper symbol represented Music with music notes, headphones, and ears. My crystal symbol, made from borax and boiling water, represented my name which means listening to god.

Deeply Rooted PBL Video

To the left is a video that showcases our PBL project in 2 minutes. It includes a collage of when some of the 10th graders went down to the elementary school with activities for them to do. It also includes a Spanish dance and some African dancing.

Simeon Adams - Written Communication: Illustrating a Principle of Design

Principles of Design

I had to choose a principle of design and brainstorm ways I could show it. I chose to illustrate patterns and I did that by repeating the shading around in the shapes and repeating similar shapes.

Change is Gonna Come

For this project, we had to come up with a contemporary conflict that we would fight for me and my group came up with drug abuse. We had to sketch ideas on a sheet of paper relating to drug abuse. Then on our final project, we painted our contemporary conflict and it included cubism since this was also our Guernica project.
