For my first AP Language essay, I compared and contrasted the educational philosophies of Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X. My argument for the thesis was "Douglass and X understood and lived through the trials and tribulations placed on black people in this country. Both carved out a path for themselves with education. Furthermore, both knew what it meant to become entirely consumed by the beauty of literature.,".  While working on this article, I realized the importance of a well-thought-out thesis, relevant supporting data, and insightful commentary. 

In my class, we have been reading "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot. During this process, we recognized Skloot used a famous quote by Elie Wiesel  " “We must not see any person as an abstraction. Instead, we must see in every person a universe with its own secrets, with its own treasures, with its own sources of anguish, and with some measure of triumph", as the epigraph for this book. In my one-pager, I will summarize the book's first half and demonstrate how the book transformed Henrietta from a medical enigma into a fully realized woman with her secrets and life experiences.

For our project based leaning peoject this year we wanted to focus on the effect of advancments in AI on the school enviorment. In my english class each period created a slidshow that we presented to our school adminstration to take into consideration when amending the technology section of the drew student handbooks.
