Dance is how I express myself and tell stories. It’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, whether I’m performing, choreographing, or teaching others. Dance has also allowed me to grow closer to people I otherwise wouldn't have met. Through dance, I’ve grown as a person and a leader, and I’m excited to keep sharing my passion.
At Drew, I have trained in a little bit of everything. This heavily includes lyrical and jazz but also ballet, modern, and hip-hop.
Check out some of my favorite performances and choreography below.
I started dancing in fourth grade and was moved to advanced dance mid-year. Dance has been a part of my school life every year since then. I have performed in various performances, competed at multiple conventions, choreographed a few numbers, and been recognized for my hard work and achievements.
I have competed in dance at four Beta Conventions since middle school with my peers earning a top 3 place each time. Dance also led me to an internship my senior year.
Mentoring younger dancers has allowed me to build close relationships and become a role model for them. It’s been amazing to watch them grow, both in their skills and in their confidence. Seeing them progress and knowing I had a part in their journey has been incredibly rewarding.
One of the most special connections I’ve made was with a freshman I choreographed with throughout the year. Over the process, we grew really close, and now she’s like a little sister to me. Moments like these remind me how powerful dance can be in bringing people together and creating lasting bonds. I’m grateful for the chance to guide others and watch them flourish.
As I move forward, I plan to keep dance in my life, whether through choreography, teaching, or just staying connected to the community. Dance will always be a part of me, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.
