About the Guernica Project
Our project was a modern take on Picasso’s Guernica, which he painted to show the pain and destruction caused by the bombing of a town during the Spanish Civil War. His painting used powerful images to show how war hurts innocent people. We were inspired by that message and recreated the scene using symbols from today’s issues, like healthcare inequality, racism, and the refugee crisis. We also made a PSA to raise awareness, especially about unfair access to healthcare. Our goal was to show that even though times have changed, people are still suffering and these problems still need our attention.
Geometry Cubism
Cubism, started by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, is an art style that breaks objects into geometric shapes and shows them from different angles at once. Things might look broken apart, overlapping, or pieced together in a new way. For our assignment, we had to create a cubist-style image using 3D shapes. I decided to make a cubist style of winnie the poo.
PSA/Propaganda - Literature
The poster that I created promotes the importance of accessible healthcare for everyone. It shows a diverse group of healthcare workers standing together, symbolizing unity, strength, and dedication to public health. The slogan, "Healthcare for All! Stronger Communities, Healthier Futures!", emphasizes the idea that quality healthcare benefits both individuals and society. The misleading part about this poster is that it presents an idealized version of healthcare, making it seem like everyone has equal access to medical services when that’s not always the case. Many people struggle with affordability, shortages of medical staff, or unequal treatment.
For our PSA we had to work with partners I worked with Amelia Vinson,Norah Dunlop,Marisol Atencio, and Titus Smith. Our PSA was about our chosen conflict we wanted to talk about. We decided to do our PSA about human rights. The video should be about 30 seconds to 1 minute long.
CHEMVAS - ArtOur PSA is awanted to spread awareness about.
My project was about abortion and unequal healthcare in our society. My partner(Jordyn Hanes) and I decided to do a painting with a woman who is reaching out for help and who is pregnant and has a lock in her stomach and the doctors have the key,This symbolizes the unequal access of healthcare, someone reaching out for help and desperately needing it and the doctors not being able to provide for the person in the need. The process of painting this project was doing the sketch on our section. Then painting and making ombré effects throughout the painting.I learned what was difficult was doing the ombré effect through out the project.I enjoyed everything about the project. If I could do this priest again I would like to experience with more colors.Other then that I enjoyed the project.

Chemistry
My project focused on the emotional power of the scene in Guernica where a woman holds her dead child, showing deep sadness and anger. We recreated this moment and added chemical symbols to represent the brain’s emotional response using red for norepinephrine to show anger and blue for serotonin to show sadness. This helped us connect powerful emotions in art to real chemical changes in the brain.
