The Guernicas in which we are tasked to create are inspired by Picasso. In many of his artworks, his shading varies in different areas. We were to indivisually attempt his technique on paper. We drew the objects in front of us and sketched them in Picasso's very unique style. My drawing can be viewed to the left.
Final Guernica
Below is the picture of our completed Guernica. My group and I decided our issue would be abortion rights. We chose each image and drew it onto the board, which can be seen to the left. In science, we simulated our own paint using chemical properties, which we were able to use on our board. Using Pacasso-inspired shading, we completed the board that will be displayed.
We learned about propaganda and how it was used to persuade people of different ideas. Since this was an individual assignment, we each chose different issues. I decided on the debate of fracking. To the left, you can see the Propaganda poster I made.
With our knowledge of propaganda, my group and I wrote and filmed a P.S.A for our Guernica issue. Our P.S.A included different aspects of propaganda and also plugged in a source in which people can use to receive help. The video can be viewed aside.
The Guernica project was an incredible and expansive project that connected through all of our classes! You can see my slideshow from the project and artist statement video here!

For this project, my partner, Lily. B, and I created a PSA about our chosen conflict. We chose wild animal trafficking. We made a PSA in the format of both a slideshow, which can be viewed below and an infographic, which can be viewed aside. The article my partner and I chose was about animal trafficking and the reasons for it. Many people smuggle tigers, turtles, and other exotic species for illegal purposes through airports. This takes place primarily in Latin America and Asia. This conflict is important to know about because actions of trafficking can harm the community and also be a large danger to wild animals.
