For this project, we were assigned to sketch out a fashion design for the met gala, and the theme was dandyism.
In class, we had been watching a documentary about Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X. We were supposed to create a piece that represented the legacy of MLK and/or Malcolm X. I decided to only draw about Malcolm X.
Everyone in class had to choose a Hispanic/Latino individual who has made history and influenced others. No one could choose the same person, and it was first-come, first-served. I chose Selena Quintanilla.
In class, we had been learning how to draw hair, so we were given the assignment to draw a figure with an interesting hairstyle.
For Black History Month, everyone chose an important person and drew their portraits. I chose Shirley Chisholm. Before we were able to start our drawings, we had to write a biography about our chosen person.
