For this project in art, everyone had to choose a famous visual artist and create either a drawing or a painting inspired by our chosen artist. The artist I chose was Michelangelo, and I decided on a pencil drawing.
This is the PowerPoint presentation that I made in class, where we researched a little about our artist and write about two of their art pieces. We then had to sketch out 3 ideas before creating our final piece. We wrote our artist's statement and explained how our piece or pieces connects to our chosen artist.
I chose Michelangelo as my artist because he was known for his skill in drawing and painting human figures, especially angels, which connects to my own artwork. My drawing relates to his work because he often depicted angels in dramatic and expressive ways, and I wanted to capture that same feeling in my piece. While working on my composition, I focused on making it look unique and interesting rather than just copying his style. I adjusted the positioning of the angles to create movement and depth, and I paid attention to details like the flow of fabric and lighting to make the scene feel more dynamic. These edits helped make my drawing stand out while still being inspired by Michelangelo’s approach.
