In Spanish, everyone in class was assigned to create a short children's book and then record the audio version.
Everyone's short story had to be 12 pages, including the title and end page. I chose to write about a girl who goes to a magical forest.
Libro de Rectas Hispanas
<-----
For this project, everyone in the class was given a Hispanic country via a spinning wheel, and we researched two recipes to make. We had to write an entree and either an appetizer or a desert. I chose the appetizer. We had to use our Spanish knowledge to translate a recipe that we researched.
ChemVAS Typography ------>
August 19, 2024
For this project, we had to create the word 'ChemVas' using letters that we made. I used the platform Sketch.io to create my word. I took pictures related to chemistry and art from the internet. My piece has a pink color palette, with different lines and shapes. The background is shaded using multiple shades of pink to create a gradient. I liked that everyone was able to express themselves while making the typography word. I could use Sketch.io for future drawing projects.
Element Art
For this project, we had to create an art piece about an element that we were given. My element was Actinium
History of the Periodic Table
For this project, I researched how Moscovium was discovered, what it was used for, and who discovered it.
Bohr Model
For this project, we created a representation of the elements that we were given using paper plates, string, and straws. My element was Actinium.
S'Mores Lab
For this lab, we had to determine if making s'mores was a physical or chemical change.
For this lab, we had to identify which brand of dish soap made the biggest bubbles. We put spons of soap on the table and blew a bubble with a straw.
For this lab, we had to conduct an expieriment about how many of each color skittle was in a bag.
For this lab, we had to see if putting weights(paperclips) on a paper airplane would affect its flight distance.
CER: How might cultural and historical contexts have shaped scientific discoveries in making the periodic table?
Cultural and historical influences affected the scientific breakthroughs in the making of the periodic table since the first authors were older white men coming from Europe. It is true that if they had been in other locations, it would've made a difference in their development because of the various cultural elements in the locality. If those discoveries were made by another gender, then the chances of receiving the periodic table today wouldn't be the same. Because if she were a woman, her words would never have been trusted. In general, it can therefore be said that the cultural and historical context has influenced scientific results related to the making of the periodic table by the gender, location, and race of the contributors.
