How does food insecurity impact culture and identity?
I worked on this PBL project in multiple classes, like ELA and Art.
In ELA, my group and I created a recipe. The recipe had an ingredient that each member of the group chose. The ingredients that we chose came from recipes that contributed to our culture and identity. There were many steps to completing this project. We had to pick our ingredients, create a recipe, complete a presentation slideshow about our recipe and how it relates to our identity, record a video where we answered the questions in our presentation, and make the food in our recipe, which we later presented at the PBL showcase.

In art, we created ceramic dining sets inspired by the pottery styles of various ancient civilizations. My group chose the African pottery style to design our dining set. Our set included a plate, a cup, two bowls, cutlery, and food items that were introduced through the Columbian Exchange, such as turkey, grapes, rice, and corn.
