For this project, we learned about the process of making ink in chemistry, and practiced black ink shading techniques. We started off with making three sketches or ideas for our design with regular paper in Visual Arts. Then we moved on to making rough drafts of our design, so I used a more common watercolor set from Crayola. Then for our final design, I used Windsor & Newton watercolors to make my design as bright and colorful as possible and drew inspiration from the popular tattoo artist Sailor Jerry.
In Concepts of Engineering, we were prompted to make a fully functioning robot with the design of our choice that could move forwards, backwards, left, and right. I modeled my design after a vintage Volkswagen bus. I created all sides of my robot on Onshape, and added extra components such as break lights when the vehicle is stopped and headlights when the car moves forward. The version shown in the first video is the final creation, but many prototyes were made in order to achieve the desired shape and functionality. The second video shows the robot prototype traversing the path, in order to check that it can turn properly.
In this project, we used skills from multiple classes in order to push for abortion rights. In ELA we learned about the Holocaust and the growth that arose from that situation. In World History we learned about the history behind the Holocaust and WW2. We created PSA's and pieces of art styled after Picasso's Guernica in Visual Arts. The process involved creating sketches of the images we want to include, and then employing different shading techniques to give the painting a cubism look.
