Once I assembled all of my pieces together I left an opening and put the light bulbs in their assigned spot. Then left an opening for the chord that connects it to the computer/power source. This is the link to my video youtube.com/shorts/2OCAxOFAuZc?feature=share
This is the pattern I connected to Glowforge so that I could cut out the pieces in plywood. I had to redo many of the pieces to get each piece to fit perfectly.
Once I measured out my sides, I transferred them to card board and doubled the size so that my prototype could fit the electronic aspect of the prototype.
After cutting out the accurate shapes, the were taped together to make my 3D shape. I had to make a few adjustments to the measurements so it all fit together.
This is the introduction on what were making.
This is the constraints, materials and rules of the project.
This is the stamp sheet for the physical parts of the project.
This is the stamp for the electronics.
We made our different geometric designs, to eventually choose from to make a prototype of.
This will be a class dedicated to learning how to design bandsaw boxes
These are the standards that we need to learn by the end of the class, so we can become familiar to using tools in this class.
To show that we understand and have mastered these skills, we are expected to show these skills at the end of this band saw box project.
Band saw cut out # 1
We cut this wood using the band saw to get a feel of what cutting using this tool felt like.
Band Saw
A band saw is quite literally a tool that using a band like saw and is used to cut specific simple designs.
Do's
Turn off band saw after use
Tuck in loose articles of clothing
Wear proper equipment
Don'ts
Wearing jewelry
Move the material through quickly
Do not horseplay around the band saw or any other materials
What to do-
Line piece of wood up with fence
Unplug after use
Pull saw through slowly
What not to do-
Pull saw through unevenly and aggressively
Put hand over line
Life the guard off the saw.
W glued the boxes that we just cut up.
We evened out a blocks of wood by using the miter saw.
lWe peeled the stencil so that
Do's
-wear apron and gloves
- conserve stain
- Hammer down lid to close and use flathead screwdriver to open
Don'ts
horseplay
go against the pattern in the box
We used a code for the external LED, saved it., and switched the light from internal to external. We put the short end in the GND and the long end in the G14. We used MU editor to put the code in.
We used a code form the pico instructions and put the lights in Gp11green,Gp13red , and GP14yellow. You had to create a new tab with Code.py and then copy and paste the code in there.
Today we practiced cutting a curved piece of wood that was longer than the one we did last time.
We made a larger version of our chosen shape, and made any finishing touches to the design
I took the 3D shape I designed and separated each side in order to be bale to transfer it to cardboard.
In order to make a clean prototype, we used the laser cutter to cut the cardboard precisely. this was our second protoype and next time I will have to make some size adjustments.
In order to make a clean prototype, we used the laser cutter to cut the cardboard precisely. this was our second protoype and next time I will have to make some size adjustments.
I made three different designs. The first one includes every color being lit individually. In the second every corner is lit up in a circle. Finally, in the third each corner lights up diagonally.
This can engrave and cut through multiple materials but on this pccasion we used cardboard.
In order to make this happen you have to first correctly assign a label to every light, and then plan out which light turns on and off. If there is a single mistake in your code it may not work, so this is a very tedious step in our geo-lamp project.
4/17/2023 In the pervious class we learned our new project. We are going to create wooden coasters out of scraps of wood. Some of thhe tools e are going to use are
Planer saw
Table Saw
Orbital Sander
Floor drill press
A planer saw is used to even out the wood and give it a smooth finish
Do's-
Use ear protection and/or eye protection
Ensure vacuum is attached
Make sure you unplug the machine after each use.
Dont's-
Put fingers into the opening
Leave it running
Feeding it more than one piece of wood
A table saw is used to cut large pieces of wood at an angle or straight across
Do's-
Dos
-Hold the sander when you turn it on
-wear safety glasses
-keep sander of skin
Dont's
-Don't horseplay
-Take off the sandpaper when in use
-don't hold sander in the same place
We measured out the size of the coaster. The Split it up into the amount of sections we want. We measured how mny inches each section would be, and shaded the darker wood.
We cut our wood into 3/4 intervals using the table saw, and then glued them together with clamps.
After using the router to round the edges, I added a wood finish to brighten the wood, and my coaster was complete.
