My project focuses on food deserts—areas where people have limited access to affordable, healthy food. In these communities, grocery stores are often far away, and residents rely on convenience stores or fast food, which can be more expensive and less nutritious. The project explains how food deserts affect health, budgets, and overall quality of life. It also explores strategies to save money while still eating well, such as buying in bulk, choosing seasonal produce, shopping at local farmers markets, using store loyalty programs, and reducing food waste by planning meals ahead. By combining these cost-saving strategies with community efforts like mobile markets and food co-ops, we can make healthy eating more affordable and accessible—even in areas with limited resources.
