Jason Thrash - 2021 9th Grade Learning Journal

As a 9th grade student at Drew Charter, we have been using the “Drew Design Process” in a recent project.  First, we worked on the brief where we understood and defined the problem.  The problem we are trying to solve is based on one of the UN goals and mine is Climate Change.  Next we completed research.  During the research phase, we learned about different elements that could contribute to our UN goal, my element is oxygen, my hero is a speedster and has a beam of light that can make/create renewable energy, we also learned how to make trailers, the different shot sizes and angles to get when recording. Next we worked to developing our idea by creating different styles for our character and different ideas for our hero's origin story and trailer. The next step was to create a prototype which involved creating a story board/outline for our trailer.  Next we tested the prototype by screen recording out storyboards and adding sound affects, voiceovers, and visual affects. Throughout the process we evaluated and modified our project by bringing it to life and recording our selves as our hero.

Stained Glass Project

In Geometry, I’m working on designing a piece of stain glass and in World History we’re learning about the history of stain glass in religious establishments. In geometry, we’re learning about the properties of parallelograms, so my stain glass design includes different types of parallelograms such as rectangles, squares, and a rhombus. For my stain glass design, I’m creating a mixture of different shapes that we have learned about in geometry.

FINAL Blueprint

La casa de mi sueños.

Speaking and Writing Tasks: Be ready to discuss your design. Describe and explain it orally and in writing. Use natural language from the inside out. Evidence of exterior sources used will mean invalidation.

Driving questions: How is your dream house and why?

¿Cómo es la casa de tus sueños?

¿Pór que?

Mini Golf Course

In golf class we created a mini golf course, we incorporated the different sports we have at Drew to represent the great athletic program we have. To start the project we created sketches of how we wanted it to look then we took small pieces of everyone's course to create this course. About a week into it we started to build it, the building process was easy and didn't take that long. I contributed to the baseball/soccer and track portions of the course I helped paint, spray paint, and measure the different parts. Below are pictures of the course

Jason Thrash - Week 5

ESports | Week 5

For this week in esports we've been promoted as "e-sports health director for a national e-sports team."  Through research, exploration and analysis we designed a weekly routine for our made up e-sports team to help maximize the lifestyle of an e-sports athlete and to give them a competitive advantage.

One dynamic I learned about game science is that it is basically game analytics and see what makes people get on the game and what doesn't. One game that this compares to is Madden because when Madden come out with a new MyTeam card they have these analyists see is people will buy it or not.

Today in AP CS we worked on functions and parameters in the image to the left you will see a set of code,  in thiss code I had to define square and give it a parameter of i the I had to set i to i**2 or i squared

10/23/2023

Today in class we worked on codehs 5.2 in the picture to thee left is 5.2 height in meters we had to write a function that takes a height in feet and inches and converts it to meters.

Today in AP CS I was able to explain, define, and create functions that return values.

3 things I'vee learned in E-sports

There is multiple things I've learned in e-sports but only 3 things have stuck out and caught my attention game design, game engineering, and sound design
