We learned about ancient mesopotamia, India, egypt and china. We made mud bricks for a house structure with our hands with dirt ,water and hay or grass. We also made a shelter with bamboo. We stuck the bamboo sticks in the ground to stand up and connected all the sticks at the top.
My art symbol is a representation of acrhitecture and interior design made out of paper we made in class. I used different materials paper and textures for variety. Doing this project was fun. This project showed symbolization in art shows a lot. At the beginning, this project challenged me because certain glue would not stick to the paper we made but in the end, I figured it out and finished strong.
The Columbian Exchange was a widespread transfer of plants, animals, culture, human populations, technology, and ideas between the Western Hemisphere (the Americas) and the Eastern Hemisphere (Europe, Africa, and Asia) that occurred in the 15th and 16th centuries, following Christopher Columbus's voyage to the Americas in 1492.The defining events that caused the onset of the exchange include Columbus's "discovery" of the Americas, which opened up new trade routes, as well as the European colonization and conquest of the Americas, which led to the transfer of crops, livestock, and other resources between the two hemispheres.Three items that were transferred or exposed to the other hemisphere include:Potatoes were native to the Andes region of South America and were a staple food of the Incas. When the Spanish arrived in the Americas, they brought potatoes back to Europe, where they quickly became popular and helped to alleviate famine and poverty.Tobacco was originally used by Native Americans for medicinal and ceremonial purposes. When Europeans discovered tobacco, it quickly became a popular luxury item and was traded widely around the world.Horses were introduced to the Americas by the Spanish in the 16th century. They quickly became an integral part of Native American culture and had a significant impact on the development of the American West. One meal that I love that includes ingredients from the two different hemispheres is spaghetti with tomato sauce. Tomatoes are native to the Americas and were introduced to Europe by the Spanish in the 16th century. Spaghetti, on the other hand, is a staple food of Italian cuisine and has been popular in Europe for centuries. The combination of these two ingredients creates a delicious and satisfying meal that represents the cultural exchange that occurred during the Columbian Exchange. In our PBL we did a dish with random foods from eastern hemisphere and created a dish including the random ingredients. I cooked in group and came up with the idea to wrap the yams in bacon.
