Sports, Work, or Additional Information

I worked at Dynamo for just about a year and learned a lot. Being a swim instructor for toddlers and young children was both a rewarding and challenging experience. I was responsible for teaching them how to feel comfortable in the water while also introducing them to basic swimming techniques. Older kids were a little bit more challenging too, as I had to retain information and skills I never knew before.  Patience and clear communication were key, as the kids are still learning how to follow directions and trust their instructors. Making sure parents felt comfortable and safe with their child in the water was very crucial as well.  I learned how to be adaptable and creative in finding fun ways to engage them while putting their safety first. The job also taught me how to stay calm and composed in high-pressure situations, as well as how to build confidence in others, even at a young age. Overall, it was a fulfilling role that helped me grow as a communicator and a leader.

Working at the Snoball shop was an incredibly high-stress job, although I only worked there for a few months. I was required to think on my feet and move quickly. On busy days, the shop would get crowded, and I had to manage multiple orders at once, all while maintaining a fast pace to keep up with customer demand. It was challenging dealing with high-maintenance customers and the public in general. I feel as though I needed to learn this because it's a common situation in a lot of workplaces. The environment taught me to stay organized under pressure and to adapt quickly to different situations. I had to learn new tasks on the fly, from perfecting the art of making snoballs to managing the cash register. Despite the fast-paced nature of the job, I developed strong time management skills, became more confident in handling high-pressure situations, and learned how to stay calm while delivering excellent customer service. It was definitely a tough but valuable experience that pushed me to grow.
