The black lives matter movement began in 2013 after the death of Trayvon Martin and the freeing of George Zimmerman. It was founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi to raise awareness about racism and injustice toward Black people. The movement focuses on ending police brutality and making sure Black lives are treated fairly. Over the years, it has grown into a global movement with millions of supporters. Black Lives Matter continues to fight for equality, justice, and human rights.
