I am self-employed as a math tutor. I became interested in tutoring after my previous math teacher encouraged me to volunteer for my school’s Math Mentor program. Once I began working with those students, I realized that I really enjoyed helping others improve their academic understandings, especially in math. Since then I’ve worked to gain clients and start my tutoring business. I typically work with middle school students, weekly, for two-hour durations. I’ve been working as a tutor for about 4 years now. Being a math tutor has allowed me to grow in multiple aspects of my life. I have had the privilege of observing firsthand how one’s performance in school can affect their confidence in multiple areas of their life.
I have been a part of my school's track team for two years. During those two years, I served as a team captain. As captain, it was my responsibility to lead my team in drills, warm-ups, and to demonstrate techniques. I was also a member of DRew's soccer team for one year. Unfortunately, my school did not allow students to participate in multiple sports that took place in the same season, thus I chose to split my time in high school between track and soccer.
