Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s first novel, Purple Hibiscus, tells the story of a girl who fights her exterior skin that her father has nurtured to find her inner self. The protagonist, Kambili, experiences brutal attempts of brainwash from her abusive father who believes that anybody that doesn’t follow his ways are sinners. Kambili slowly starts to realize her father’s sickness and blooms into a person of expression after observing a different environment in Nsukka. I chose this book, because the contrast and foils between characters are great examples of conflict. It also reveals that nobody can acquire full control over your mind. They can influence you and pursue your thoughts, but you are the only person who has the ability to react to those thoughts. For ELA, the students went to Shakespeare Tavern and set up their own ending to Romeo and Juliet. We had a difficult time trying to understand the language but Shakespeare Tavern gave us a visual on the theme. We had to do a project rewriting the ending as we like. We also changed the title.

On an IXL about simplifying radical expressions, I found factors of the numbers that I was given. I received a 100 on the assignment. Sometimes the answer was a radical in itself. For example, for the radical 12, I used a factor tree to simplify the number. Two numbers that multiply to equal 12 is 3 and 4.

Students had to learn about parallel and series circuit to insert in our houses that were either made from wood or cardboard. I like this project, because it's creative and we can mirror an actual house. We also added complex circuits to the mix.

Recently, our GeoTech class made Inequality posters. Our poster was centered around racial inequality. Today people of color continue to be disproportionately incarcerated, policed, and sentenced to death at significantly higher rates than their white counterparts.

All of me is a very fun piece for me, because of the modern song by john legend. This musical piece requires a bass and treble hand at the same time to play. In harp, there are four fingers that are available to use in any musical piece. The fifth finger is the "pinky finger". It is too weak to pluck the long wired strings of the harp. Focusing on both hands at once is a bit frustrating, much like playing the piano.

An issue that I had in this song is changing the pedals and hopping right back on the song in time to play the next part. Another issue was being on the beat and knowing when to come in by looking at the rests in the song. A rest is a pause before continuing the song.

“Practice like you’ve never won. Perform like you’ve never lost.” The dance was overall the best performance I have ever danced. When your dancing, I feel that you do not know how good you really look until you see footage. In rehearsals, the dance was full of errors. At times it looked like pure chaos, but the actual performance outshined everything.

When you learn dance and begin to become comfortable with yourself and the movements, then you can focus on other components such as smiling and showing expression. I love to dance. I honestly don’t think I am good at dancing, but nonetheless I feel great when dancing. Of course I wish to look good, but if you you’re a excellent dancer and not happy, then what’s the point? I can release and finally move away from textbooks. I am buoyant that I broke through my shell. I hope to exceed in dance in the future. I truly thank my teacher for giving me this opportunity and believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
