Arts & Science Activities

This year we have a spectacular selection of A&S classes and activities for you to choose from. These include glass bead-making, mead brewing, garb repair, scribal activities and so much more!

There will also be the A&S Protectors competition.

Join us for a packed schedule of Rapier and Longsword activities. We have classes for everyone, from newcomer guides to the use of cloak, to a series of classes specialising in Fabris. There will be classes sharing the experiences of one of our most excellent female MoDs, teaching fighting from the ground, and more.

There will also be tournaments and Academy of Defence Prize Plays.

Equites Draconis

Watch the cavalry of Insulae Draconis as they demonstrate their skill at arms! Our riders will demonstrate the art of hitting the quintain, the slicing of the cabbage by the sword, and the piercing of the ring by the lance!

Revel in the glory of their steeds as they return to the castle of their ancestors and revive their ancient war horse credentials!

Ranged Weapon Activities

Caldicot Castle is the place to be for archery this year. There will be our ever popular tower shoot from the top of one of the castle towers, and our inter-shire competition, the Doole. There will also be competitive shoots with recorded results.

New for LXI: Thrown Weapons! This year we will have targets and marshals for throwing knives and axes! Come along to the archery field and have some fun!

Armoured Combat Activities

There will be a range of Armoured Combat activities this year for all our fighters from the most honourable knight to the freshly authorised newcomer.

Fight for the honour of your Shire in the Oxford Roll, or show your skill in the Torchlit Pas d'Armes.

The Three Barons Tavern

The Tavern will be open for breakfast and evening meals each day.

Bardic and Dancing

Come and play, sing and dance with our bards in this splendid medieval setting! Join us for singing in the chapel, where the acoustics will compliment the sublime voices of our populace. In the Castle Courtyard, our dancers will teach you to step, prance and leap your way through period dances. Whether you want to play, or just enjoy the music, our musicians will be ensembling and jamming their way through the whole event!
